Your first visit
What the first meeting looks like, how long it takes and when you will receive your diet programme.
What will my first meeting with a dietitian be like?
In my office I do my best to make a visit to a dietitian pleasant, interesting and stress-free. First of all, you will get all the information you need about your weight and body composition. Specialist measurements will assess not only your current weight or body fat level, but also how firm your body is.
From the results you will learn, among other things, whether your body has enough muscle tissue, how many calories it needs, how much you should really weigh and how much time you need to lose the excess fat. The result of the specialist body weight and composition test includes more than 20 different values, which I will present to you in a clear, visual way.
This test will explain a great deal to us and create an excellent basis for an optimal diet programme. Of course, working it out in detail will still require many arrangements, so our visit will take a little longer. We still need to gather a lot of information about your lifestyle so far, how you spend your time, your food preferences, your health, past illnesses, the medicines you take and so on. All so that your new diet is not a torment for you, but a real pleasure. Such thorough tests and analyses are very important for preparing a proper diet programme.
That is why you should set aside at least several dozen minutes for your first meeting with a dietitian.
Will I get my diet at the first visit?
Here you need a little patience. The large amount of information you have given me now has to be carefully considered and analysed, so that the diet programme is healthy, safe and, above all, effective. Preparing your programme will still take some time, but thanks to that you can be sure that it is perfectly suited to you.
In some cases it will be necessary to consult specialists in other fields of medicine, especially if there are additional health problems. As you can see, it is neither simple nor quick, so I need a few days on average to prepare such a programme. To receive the complete materials, you need to book one more short meeting, at which you will get all the explanations and advice you need. You could say that your first visit is spread over two stages.
The intake form before your visit
After booking you will receive an e-mail with the confirmation and a link to a nutrition intake form. Fill it in calmly before your visit: it asks about your lifestyle, food preferences, health and the medicines you take. This lets me prepare for our meeting in advance, and leaves more time for talking at the visit.
