Basic laboratory tests:
- Urine test
This important diagnostic test provides valuable information on how the urinary system and other organs and systems work. It helps detect, among others, kidney disease and urinary and genital tract infections. It is a very important test in the general assessment of health. - Basic blood test (complete or extended blood count, ESR)
It includes a detailed analysis of all types of blood cells (red cells, white cells, platelets). It is done both for prevention and in diagnosing various conditions, most often when anaemia, inflammation or an infectious disease is suspected. - Iron metabolism test (iron, transferrin, ferritin, TIBC)
A test essential in diagnosing iron deficiency or excess. An abnormal result may point to dietary deficiencies and may also be a sign of many dangerous diseases. The test may cover both the direct concentration of iron in the blood serum and the proteins that transport and store it in the body. - Blood sugar test (glucose, glucose tolerance test, insulin)
Its aim is to diagnose possible disorders of glucose metabolism. Indications include suspected diabetes, a family history of diabetes, overweight, high blood pressure and lipid disorders. - Cardiovascular test (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, hs-CRP, homocysteine)
The test gives important information on the blood levels of selected compounds whose abnormal levels correlate with the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease and heart attack, stroke and atherosclerosis of the lower limbs. - Thyroid test (TSH, T3, T4, TRH)
The test shows whether the thyroid produces enough hormones, which play an extremely important role in metabolism. Abnormal hormone levels can cause various health problems and difficulty keeping the right body weight, and can also lead to weakness and poorer physical and mental condition. - Liver tests (bilirubin, ALT, AST, ALP, GGT)
Also known as “liver function tests”. A set of tests that help assess how the liver works. They help diagnose both chronic and acute liver failure and assess the patency of the bile ducts. - Kidney function test (urea, creatinine, uric acid)
Measuring urea and creatinine in the blood gives valuable information on how the kidneys and urinary tract work. Raised results may indicate kidney failure, metabolic disorders or dehydration. Measuring uric acid is particularly important in diagnosing and monitoring the treatment of gout, and in people with coronary heart disease and kidney stones. - Gluten intolerance tests (anti-tTG IgA and IgG)
This test is recommended for people with suspected coeliac disease (whatever their age), people at risk (relatives of people with coeliac disease, people with conditions that coexist with coeliac disease) and people with suspected greater or lesser gluten intolerance. - Electrolyte test (sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, chloride)
The test assesses the levels of minerals essential for life. It is used to diagnose disorders of water and electrolyte balance and of the kidneys, heart, nervous system and bones. - Hormone tests (testosterone, LH, FSH, prolactin)
They aim to determine how the hormonal system produces and uses the hormones responsible for the health of men and women. Disorders here can cause many conditions, weaken physical and mental condition and impair sexual function. - Cancer screening test (markers: PSA, CEA, CA 72-4, CA 19-9, AFP, CYFRA 21-1, CA 125, CA 15-3)
The test is recommended when cancer is suspected or in patients at higher risk (cancer in the immediate family). Several specific markers are often tested at the same time to increase the chance of detecting cancer.
